Sturgis Falls Days, Cedar Falls

For many years Solglimt Lodge has had its Viking ship in the parade and a food booth at Sturgis Falls Days, and its popularity continues to increase.

Our members participate in any or all of the following ways: providing cash gifts to help pay expenses, working at the food booth, and baking Nordic goodies.

July 28, 29, 2011 Nordic Fest, Decorah 2011 marks the 45th Nordic Fest. Nordic Fest is parades, dancers, and a multitude of incredible Norwegian art and crafts. Besides the exhibits, there are live demonstrations and items for purchase at the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum and at nearby schools. All that great Norwegian food is available along the parade route.

Marilyn is a Luther College graduate and lives in Lake Mills. A teacher by profession, she became fascinated and began studying Thor Heyerdahl, whom she describes as “an exceptional thinker [who] held some radical views during his time.”

Sons of Norway Foundation Month
Dr. Lee Nelson is the director of the Wartburg College choir. The choir will journey to Europe, including Norway, the summer of 2011. We’ll hear about their adventure, plus a preview of Christmas with Wartburg.

All of our Lodge meetings, except the May Syttende Mai celebration and August picnic, include a sit-down meal and are held at:

Our members pay the cost of the meal and reservations are required. Our callers contact members several days prior to a meeting for reservations.

Members usually arrive about 6:00 p.m. to get their name tag/s, pay for their meal/s, visit with fellow Lodge members, and find a place to sit.
